Default please help daughter in trouble for identity theft

hi-my daughter used a friends atm card to withdraw 300 dollars got caught and admitted and returned the money. the viictim now comes back and says there is an additional 600 dollars at different times and dates that she doesn't recognize and is threatening my daughter to pay or else she will prosecute for the 300 dollars. my daughter swears she did not commit these other charges but victims mother says that if we don;t pay she will go to the police station and have her arrested for identity theft. my daughter is guiilty for the 300 that she admtted to and returned do we pay and hope that this will go away? She said the only way we can prove innocent and find the bank records is if she files charges fiirst which would mean my daughter would be arrested first and then still found guilty of the 300 dollars . i know my daughter is guilty for the 300 but this feels like blackmail and she deserves it but is it worth the identity theft charge - don't think so don't know what to do. we are in ny

I know nothing of the law, but I'd say one of two things is happening. Either you're being shaken down be your daughter's friend's mother, or your daughter or her friend took the money. I'd own up to the $300 and ask the other mother just how sure she is her daughter isn't the one who took the balance....
Otherwise, you're in for a forever shakedown opportunity.
