Default Manslaughter defense ruled out in abortion slaying (AP)
AP - The judge in the trial of a man accused of murdering an abortion doctor dealt the defense a major setback Thursday, ruling that the jury cannot consider a lesser charge of manslaughter.

Scott Roeder, accused of murdering prominent Kansas abortion provider Dr. George Tiller, testifies at his trial on Thursday Jan. 28, 2010 in Wichita, Kansas.
