Bone unearthed near home of US kidnapper (AFP)
AFP - Sniffer dogs unearthed a bone fragment near the home of a California man accused of keeping a girl captive for 18 years, possibly linking him to murders, police said.

Contra Costa Sheriff's Department spokesman Jimmy Lee said it could take weeks to tell whether the small fragment unearthed Sunday near the home of convicted rapist Phillip Garrido in Antioch, east of San Francisco, was animal or human.
Investigators continued to pore over the ramshackle home where Garrido, 58, held Jaycee Lee Dugard prisoner for nearly two decades and fathered her two children after kidnapping her as an 11-year-old in 1991. Several prostitutes were killed at a nearby industrial area where Garrido worked in the 1990s. Garrido's father said he believed his son was guilty of the killings. |
