Default Citibank online banking outages, login and migration problems

January 14, 2011

Online banking at Citibank has been disrupted for thousands of customers this week.
If you have both a bank account and a credit card, you cannot log in until you change your password.

But no notice of that is given.

Bank staff say it is due to new software migration problems.

Same problem today - 1-16-11. Changed password earlier in day - got on - later in the day same problem.

Shame on Citibank. The issue is still there (1/18/2011).

I have been having problems with Citibank online for almost 3 weeks now. I have called and they keep changing my password and won't tell me what the problem is. Went to bank and the bank teller assisting me told me she had same problems and moved her accounts to a different bank. How scary is it that someone who works for Citibank can't even get the problem fixed. Any suggestions? Anyone still having problems?

Their online support--level 2 --did resolve my issue.

The first level was pretty bad frankly.

I finally paid my bill. They did not take the blame of why I couldn't log onto their website through the email they send me every month. Instead they quickly told me that I should always go onto www.citicards.com

Also, you can pay your credit card bill on the phone...but NOT through a "live" person or it will cost $14.95. You need to go through the automated prompts to be free. The number is 800-950-5114. But you have to have your checking account number and routing number handy!

Not sure whats going on with them, but trust me, this is obviously their fault that we can't get on-line to pay our credit card bill.....but they won't care and you will get a late fee.

I believe most of the pure login issues have been resolved at this point.

Unhappy Re: Citibank online banking outages, login and migration problems

Mar 25 2011 - Problem still in place...customer support implies you made a mistake and force you to reset password and user id...2 weeks later, you lose access again. Seems that their efforts to merge citicard and online banking systems have corrupted online banking user accounts. In my case, the conversion even changed birth date and left no transaction log. They have sent us to local banks 3 times now to reset our passwords and kept us on the phone for over 2 hours. I really should invest the time wasted with them to find another bank.
