Confused Oversees dept

I worked for a bank in South Africa and was later made redundant. I had in this time a credit card, car and personal loan with them. After my redundancy I asked them to repo the car. I then immigrated to another country. I am in no position to make payments to them and told them so. I am not married within community of property. I also have no assets in South Africa anymore.

Questions:

1. Will they be able to take money from my spouse's bank account in SA,
2. will they be able to collect on me in another country?

Normally they cannot take her account funds if truly and totally 100% separate.

International collection is clearly possible but time-consuming and expensive and many banks would rather just wait until they can get you back in the country at some point.

I have tried to make them payment deals but they do not want to listen to any proposal. This is what makes me so sad. They headhunted me just to make me redundant 10 months later!

I have never in my life skipped 1 installment on anything! I had a spanking clean record, they screwed it up

Sue them in small claims if you have to.
