maryland.
today i got a phone call from my credit card agency. the conversation started off fine. i was talking to a lady explaining my situation until randomly some guy got on the phone. he said my name is Mr Gallo. i said hello. he asked me whats the problem, and in a calm and respectful voice i began to explain. mid way through he cut me off and said go get your check book. i informed him i did not have a check book. he said well send us a payment of $587.00 on your next pay. i said that's unreasonable because that pretty much my whole pay. then he started to get loud and shout saying " whats unreasonable is you being irresponsible and not paying us". i told him in a calm voice it would be irresponsible on my behalf to give you my entire paycheck without thinking about my super important bills like rent and heat. he continued to shout then started threaten me by saying do you still live at (my address) I'll just send it in as a refusal to pay and that's it. still in a calm voice i replied "its not a refusal to pay, its just too much to pay at one time, I'm going to get in contact with a debt consolidation program so i can make installments". he refused to listen and kept over talking me saying "I'm going to put you in as a refusal to pay" saying it in a way as if he's threatening me. it is my fault that i didn't pay the bill true. but the way he approached me was ridiculous. they never attempted to get in contact with me before, plus they NEVER send me anything in the mail (and he said he had my address) so i had no warning, follow up, or reminder that my bill has gotten so high. what can i do if anything about the way he made me feel afterwards? |

Well, I think they were completely out of line for approaching you that way. Whats even worst is you had no warning. I feel as though the credit card company was unprofessional and could have handle it better. As far as what you can do about how you feel you can stress the issue with hierarchy in that company to explain how u feel and how you felt as though their employees handled a customer. Regardless if they are bill collectors or not, there are certain ways you talk to people and they are not doing their job because you did not have a warning or anything refreshing you of your unpaid bill. So in all nationality it is not your fault the bill isn't paid because I'm quite sure if you knew of the outstanding bill, you would have done something about it. Right? Right. So I feel as though you need to get on top of that if you really felt uncomfortable about that situation.
