Default Forced to attend AA

After attending a funeral I received a dui. (Maryland,USA)
As part of my probation I must attend a county health department program. I am also being forced to attend three AA meetings a week for six months. These meetings start with prayer and end with hand holding and the lords prayer. Throughout the meetings "god" and "a higher power" are referred to. I find these meeting unbelievably offensive. I am required to seek out a "sponsor" and to attend "home meetings" Every meeting I'm sought out and asked to read and recite the varies AA mantras. I refuse and there is usually a comment made by the chairperson.
The weekly "worksheet" I received has questions like who is my sponsor, How many AA meetings I attended, what step I am working on, how many AA meetings I will attend next week, etc.
I was told tonight (because I refuse to refer to my self as an alcoholic) that I must be suffering from "DUI-isim"
It is a 50 mile round to attend, three times a week.
Can the local health dept. force me to attend?
Thanks

Default Re: Forced to attend AA

You could ask for another program, or take jail time.

But they can offer a program as part of your requirements, that is legal.
