I received a jury duty summons at the county courthouse. The summons says to "dress in a manner respectful of the courtroom", but what exactly should I wear?
Thank you |

When dressing for jury duty, it's important to dress both conservatively and comfortable.
Jeans are fine if they aren't too faded, ripped, sloppy-looking. Jeans hanging down the butt are inappropriate. |

Business casual or business professional is fine.
Do not wear sneakers, jeans or a casual shirt (t-shirt, hoodie). Be well groomed. A good way to imagine what to wear is to pretend you are going to a job interview. Last edited by Ashlley; Apr 21st, 2010 at 11:27 PM. |

Just the opposite: it's much better to err on the side of being overdressed. A suit looks professional no matter what the actual office culture is. If you're not sure, though, ask the interviewer before you show up or split the difference with a nice shirt and pants.

Certainly. Dress however you will be the most comfortable as you will be sitting for very long periods of time. If you were used to wearing and had suits this would be acceptable but there is no dress code unless imposed by the Judge. After all this is his court room.

In all honesty.. WHO CARES.. You are being forced to go there in a legal system that is totally f'd anyway.. Wear whatever you want.. 18 measly dollars for making me go something that doesn't even make sense is freekin pathetic.. And I pay the government taxes.. lol.. I say it doesn't make sense because.... Have you ever been convicted of a misdemeanor.. um yes.. (Like they didn't know that already) Have you ever done this or that.. yes (like they didn't know that anyway).. Come on.. I'm not going to get picked and when I'm there I'll make damn sure I won't because it's losing me over 100$ / hr so we are wasting each others time. Stop with the antiquated system and do at least some filtering for Gods Sake!
