Question Music Copyright

I am a network administrator and wanted to know if it would violate music copyright to place music from a CD onto the network. Unprotected I know that it is. However, if the music is set to only be played from the server, without being enabled to be downloaded or copied in any way, and isn't gaining profit, is it still copyright infringment? It's not being used commercially, no profit is being made, and it is no different than putting it on your hard drive at home. It's just sitting on a different kind of hard drive. No one except people who have access to this internal network could even access it and all they can do it listen, they can't copy it or do anything else with said music on the network. Again, the question would be, is using CDs bought from the store, and having them on a secure, internal network, against the copyright?

Technically you still need permission.

But nobody is likely to complain.

You will have to get permission from the music publisher.Otherwise you could get sued.
