Angry creative reproduction?

So lets say I do some artwork for a band, a stage banner, $500. No contract involved.
The band uses the banner at shows.
The band then slaps some text on the artwork and uses it for the cover of a 7'' and CD single.
The use the single cover for various other promotional stuff.
Nobody informs me of any of this.

Given that there was no contract, do i have any recourse on this issue?

You usually retain the copyright and they can only use it as was originally envisioned; or they must pay more etc.
