Default Removal of sewen in brand labels

I wonder if any one has the answer here...
If a retailer removes the sewen in brand labels of a designer clothing and the places it among cheaper look alikes and then cons the consumers that the ' look alikes' are the originals. Is it against the law for a retailer to remove original brand sewen in labels from clothing?... given the fact hat the designer does so much adverising and investment in Brand awareness?

The designer has the name and logos registered internationaly.
regards

Yes that normally is illegal--you cannot remove the label.

Thanks for your answer.
Is there any references that I can look up. I need to convince my principals that this is against the law, so that we can take legal action against the preptrators.
They need to know which law this is so that they can then invest into the costs .
By the way this is in Europe.

I would suggest you call the manufacturer and they will normally gladly give you the rules governing their product.

EEK! Re: Removal of sewen in brand labels

My employers are the / designers /manufacturers!....But they wanted to know which clauses or law againt retailers removing labels is there before they invest into legal action.

By the way this is known as reverse "passing off."

Thanks for your reply!
