Default pls need advice!! is this illegal

please help...company with holding money that is owed to me

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i returned a product to the company "zellers" without a receipt.. The product was worth 150.00 and they gave me a store credit valued at 0.00. They said it would take 24 hours to go through... Now i believed them and now a week later i still have 0.00 on the card and they have sent all my info to head office in the fraud dept saying i have returned items their before with out a receipt... now i have calle dthem and wasted hours on the phone and have been treated like dirt when i did nothing wrong!! i belive that their must be some law against what they have done and are still doing since i simply returned one of "their" items back and now i do not have the item nor my money that is owed and head office is sayong that they wont give it back to me until i tel them the store my husband ppurchased a gift for me from and they said they have to verify all my 2 other purchases... they also asked me for my social insurance number... please someone give me some advice... their must be a law on this.. they have stolen from me and are harrassing me...

Based on what you say here, you could file suit against them (or at least threaten to do so) in small claims court or in regular court; filing in small claims court is easier and requires no attorney...you could try to collect all of the costs and damages that you suffered due to their behavior... You may also report them to your state attorney general's office.
