Angry consignment contract goes bad, now what?

North Carolina here. I had a consignment contract with JAG Motorsports in Concord, NC to sell my 1968 Mustang GT. They basically act as the middle man advertising on their website, car shows, showroom, etc. They give you your asking price and keep anything over and above that. We visited them before handing over our car. Seemed to be a nice organization. No info on them from the BBB. They sold the car in October and I have yet to get my money. (yes, they had the signed title.) The company has since moved to Denver, NC but is not actively up and running. One of two managing partners has been in contact with us, but I'm pretty sure he's just playing the "stalling" game. He claims to be communicating with his partner through an attorney so it doesn't look good. Because the sales price is over $10k, the Superior court must be involved. Finding a lawyer has been rough. Would ultimately like JAG Motorsports to pay the attorney fees and court costs since I shouldn't have to spend thousands to get what is rightfully mine. What a mess!!

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation and would like to offer advice, guidance, or help?

I would suggest you get a collections lawyer on their tale ASAP, and report them to every agency and license provider and Chamber of Commerce etc. that you can, until they pay.
