bank repo

My husband has been unemployed since the first of Aug. We got behind on our bills @ our bank that we been banking w/ for 10 yrs. Our loan officer just recently left the bank, she was always willing to help us out anytime we ran into trouble. One evening my husband and I came home, the bank had left card for us to call today. The very next day my husband called the bank, the guy asked when we could come in make arrangements to make payments. My husband thought he would have the money to pay it the next day. He couldnt get the money til that following week. That tuesday, the guy comes to our house, he was there to pick up our camper and my 4 wheeler. I told him where to pick up, he told me he had to pick up but i had 10 days to get it back. We could speak w/ our loan officer to make arrangement to get it back. My husband was at the bank talking to the president, wanting to know how much money it would take to get all our stuff back. While hes at the bank, the same guy that took the camper and 4 wheeler come back to my house wanting my truck keys to our chevrolet. The president of the bank calculates what we need to pay and it totals out to $42,000. The whole times my husband says the president is being a jerk to him. So he just walks out the bank. Yes we were couple payment behind on the camper and 4 wheeler, 2 wks late on the chevrolet (The day they repo the truck i got a reminder notice in the mail), the welding machines first payment was due on the day they came and repo our stuff. They wanted my husbands welding machine but it was in the back of my husbands truck so they didnt get that. My husband went to our other bank, his mother is getting a loan for the machine so he can pay it off. The president told my husband that when he repos one, then they will repo all other possessions wether we are behind on that loan. I guess what im asking is, how does the bank have the right to do this? i dont understand how they have the right to try and take something away when u havent even made a first scheduled payment?
