Sprint broadband is holding me hostage!
I live in an actual swamp in Texas. Our local phone company does not ofer dial up nor do any other available phone providers. We laso have no access to cable connections or dial-up. Finally I heard SPRINT offered a broadband card that you plug into a port on your computer and is supposed to be sveral megs fast. Well, I ordered it over the phone from Sprint and they delivered my equipment to the local store failing to even deliver it to my address. Fortunatly the people at the store held it for me. I had numerous problems and have spent countless hours for the last few months on the phone with Sprint support who always make me go through the same song and dance and it never works. Basically I have download speeds of 40 kbps and upload at 24 kbps (no that is not a typo!). I have done this test on independant and Sprints own speed test. When I asked them to let me out of my contract they demanded several hundred dollars to buy out even though they have not provided me with the service they sold me. At one point they told me to get in my car with my lap top and see if it worked better if I was in a different area! My power bars are between 0 and 10% and it disconnects me hundreds of times a day. Now they have told me I can drive 68 miles tomorrow (136 miles round trip) though I know this modem works when I am in an urban area. I looked up my area on their (Sprint's,) signal strength map and it shows my area as having no service.
Please dear gawd! I live in a swamp and have a limited income. What can i do?
