I have been researching boatsdepot.org and have found that they have scammed multiple people out of their money.

EEK! Re: buying a boat

My husband was extremely excited to find a site where the boats were in great shape and selling at such low prices... he thought maybe it was a bunch of people in need of money or repossessed boats or something of the such... he inquired about a couple of the boats and this is the reply we received on the one...

"Dear sir,
I'm glad you are interested in the boat. My name is Donald James and first I want you to know that i sell this boat because my cousin just died in a tragic accident and my real duty is to help his wife sell all he owned , including this boat. It's a great boat in perfect condition, it has no scratches, no damages, no hidden defects. Kept it in a warm garage. The boat will be shipped through DHL shipping company, one of the world's most reliable shipping companies and will take no more then 2 days. I will cover the insurance and shipping charges. I know the $1600 buy it now price is much lower than the boat's true value but I need to sell it as soon as possible because his wife wants to move back to England at her parents. The transaction is very secure for bouths parts, the safest and the only system I trust, we will both benefit of boatsdepot.org purchase protection policy .I'm waiting for your info in order to get things started on my side. I require your full name, address for shipping. As soon as I have them I'll start the official procedure, and boatsdepot.org will notify you about this with payment and shipping instuctions. You'll also receive important guidelines + instructions from them (please go through them exactly).
Also, a refund policy will be included.
If you want to see the boat i will send you many pictures
I'm waiting for your email ASAP.
Best Regards!"

This is definitely a scam... I feel so bad for those of you who got ripped off by these animals... it sickens me that people could do these things...
Wishing the best to y'all on your searches for a genuine boat salesman!

Angry Re: buying a boat

I guess I am not as lucky as some of the people on this page. I found a boat and contacted seller. I got the answers I needed and sent the money by Moneygram to London, England. They got my money on Tuesday the 27th of May. I have emaied the seller, the agent , and boatsdepot.org with no reply. The only thing that may save me is I think I have the registration number on the boat and I'm going to call the state the boat is registered in and ask for the owners info. I believe they will give it to me under the terms of the freedom of information act, because it is public record. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAM ARTISTS. YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MONEY AND GET NOTHING IN RETURN BUT AN EMPTY WALLET. Please email me if you have any questions, I will try to help. darrell.nelms@yahoo.com

Thanks for the many warnings.

A large number of people have hopefully now reported this to the police and FBI as well.

NEVER buy anything by money gram and western union

it's the fraudsters perfect payment system as there are virtually no real checks on the system

Never, ever, ever buy a boat without being allowed to inspect BEFORE any money changes hands.

The prices of these boats would not cover the shipping charges that are currently $3-$5 per mile. They don't even ask where it's being shipped.

My girlfriend found this site last month when I challenged her to find a boat we could afford. We found several and got the same stupid type e-mails from all.

There is no way you are going to find a 2006 Edgewater 18 center console for $2400. Especially shipped from Utah. I work for Edgewater Boats and there are none of our boats registered in that state.

File a police report ASAP if you lost the money and ask them to send to the police in England or wherever you sent the cash.

Never use western union or Moneygram for ANY payment in a business deal.
Banks or credit cards only!!

I found a boat on this site that I too thought was too good to be true. When I emailed they wanted me to send the money to a third party then they would deliver the boat within seven days. HA! They had a picture and a description of the boat and in the picture it had an Evenrude 90 HP Outboard on the boat. In the description they called the motor an inboard outboard. What idiots. If you are gonna scam someone they should at least know a little about the product they are trying to scam you on. Don't do business with these people unless you like getting screwed out of your hard earned money. They say, "Buyers Beware" I say "Idiots Beware"!
