Chapter 7 Income

I will be forced to retire soon from state employment on disability. WV lists disability income and social security as exempt in the state code. Later I expect to receive SS but it is harder to qualify for at first. Basically I am only to get worse in health. Cancer etc. Question: I would file Chapter 13 but my income will be cut in half on disability from 60K to 30K. Obviously this will only be enough to exist on with large medical and pharmacy costs above my insurance I live alone rent, etc.. Can I qualify under Chapter 7 since my state lists Disability and SS as exempt. I have no other income and meet the debt requirments. This would seem to be a means test question.

Do you have large debts that you cannot pay? You could file if so and the income you describe indeed should be exempt.
