Lightbulb Not able to be in court to declare bankrupcy

What is the worst that can happen to you if you give your house back to the bank and stop paying your credit cards, other than loosing your good credit score for 10 years and not being able to buy a house again. Not able to be in court to declare bankrupcy and do not live in the country anymore because of a lawers mistake?
