what to do

i started to file bankruptcy to save my home. i talked to a lawyer and told him i was trying to sell it he said i could still sell it. i filed and then learned 2 weeks later that now i could not sell. i cancelled the bankruptcy since i had not completed everything yet anyway. now my credit is shot and everything comes up bankruptcy dismised, even every good paid off acccount i had does this sound right or do i ned a new lawyer or what!!
