I live outside the US and do to extreme medical expenses find that I am unable to repay my credit card debt, which has become large. How should I proceed?

You can consider bankruptcy.
You could try to negotiate an interest freeze and close the cards. Or if you do nothing they will not have an easy time collecting it would seem. |
