So our Chapter 7 was discharged in November 2007. The state of Ohio is witholding my state refund because of a debt I owed a community college from early 2002. I went back and looked at my credit report our attorney ran prior to filing in April 2007, and this debt doesn't appear on it. I didn't even know I owed them anything until I got a letter this weekend. I called the Attorney General's office this morning and was told the college would contact their lawyer and he/she would let me know if this is dischargable. So I guess my question is, how was I supposed to include this debt into our bankruptcy case if I wasn't aware of it and it wasn't on the credit report? Any advice/comments would be really helpful. It's $233.00 which right now is a lot of money. Thank you!!
