Question Access to co-op unit owner

New York

Does a management company can force a shareholder to grant access to unit to replace drain pipe because it is corroded? The work can be done from the outside building but it is expensive. The management company wants to do that from inside the apartment to make it much cheaper. Can they really force a shareholder to do that?

By the way, they did it to my neighbors and destroyed the apartment. Entire apartment was contaminated with dust making unhealthy conditions of leaving.

I wish to inform you that generally the repair obligations are set forth in the governing documents such as the declaration establishing the house, the by-laws of the house and the individual unit deed. Further management can generally repair the premises however if any damage is caused to inside of the house then management is liable for the loss.
