Pets in Condo's

I have been in my condo for 8 years and have a cat. Our Rules and Regulations state "no pets" however no action has been taken in over eight years. I received a letter a few weeks ago from the property management informing that I have to remove my cat within 30 days. I will not get rid of my cat. I am a quiet and considerate owner and they have no complaints against me. From what I have come accross is that they have "slept on their rights" for 8 years. What are my options? What are the chances that they will leave me alone on this?

I am not the only owner with a pet. Not sure if you need to know this but I am located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
