Angry Condo Common Element Security Deposits

April 2007 the BOD passed a new ruling requiring renters to pay 1 months rental to the Association for Security to the common Elements, existing tennents EXCLUDED! I have 2 rentals with the same renters for over 3 years. The BOD has harrassed me to have my tenants pay 1 months Security (was previously and since developed $250.00),after letting them know my tennants cant afford the $950.00 (difference) they are coming after me for it. I cant swing it AND the BOD excluded present tennents when they passed the new rule. Today get the Associations Atty. Letter to pay in 30 days or be in default AND pay her legal bill of $225.00. She claims this is an effort to collect a debt and under Florida Rules shes entiteled to her fee and future fees until I pay. What to do?

You could take the issue to small claims.

It would seem existing tenants means everybody.

...normally you cannot go back and tack a new material charge on like that.
