A few years ago, when Lexus launched their IS300, they did an excellent job of telling consumers the cars came equipped with low profile tires and they would not last nearly as long as regular all-season tires. My 07 E350 (no sport pack) with 35,000 miles is still going on original tires. Low profile tires, which come on many "sport" type vehicles, will never last as long as regular tires, regardles of the make of car you purchase.

Thumbs Down Re: Mercedes Benz Tires don't support vehicle

I've got a CLS 500, this will be the 4th rim I've replaced on the vehicle, I'm the only one driving it and I know I haven't hit a pothole. My guy doing the tire changes told me this is a very common problem with Mercedes.

Angry Re: Mercedes Benz Tires don't support vehicle

I've been having problems with my 2009 CLK 350 for several months now. The car is one year old and it's at 14k miles. The tire pressure monitor sensor light goes off all the time. I pump air into the tires, check the pressures, and a few days later the same tire loses pressure. I've taken my car to the dealership at least 5 times and they could never diagnose or fix the problem. I even tried a different dealership but no success. They never offered to replace the defective tire, either. I am fed up with this company... it is a very expensive car and for it to give me such problems is unacceptable. I'm going to write a letter to the GM in hopes of getting it resolved.

I had to push my dealer on this matter but they finally gave in.

I have read this entire thread with much interest. i have a 2008 E350 and had to replace the 17 inch front Continental tires after a very annoying, loud, intermittent humming/vibration noise started happening around 18000 miles. I replaced them with much better 18 inch Sumi tires (summer - i live in Dallas). the rear 18 inch Conti tires are now making a noise. as many of you mentioned, this is a very annoying expense to have to bear. i did not have this problem with the 2005 E320 i had, nor with any other vehicles i've had. I definitely am not a fan of Continental tires and am ready to switch to other car makers for my next vehicle. I really think MB should pay for the undesirable tires

I have never had this issue and I have had 6 MBs.

But it is concerning me to see this all.

After having replaced the third tire on my 2009 E350 since purchasing it 4/09, I was very interested in reading all the comments posted with regards to the same issues. I previously owned a Volvo and a CLK-350, neither which had the tire issues I am currently experiencing.

Although the road conditions are not ideal in the Northeast, I have never had to replace tires due to potholes in the 30 years I have been driving in NY/NJ until the E350 - this is one driving experience Mercedes doesn't advertise in the marketing campaigns -- shame on them and their dealers!
