I am about to buy the car, is this really a problem? How many times when you say this happened like you breath air. This is making me a bit nervous about purchasing.
Is there any legal remedy if it happens say more than 2 times? |

I have a 2006 E500 sport wagon. The Continental tires started wearing unevenly at about 16,000 miles and now the dealer says they should be replaced at 19,000 miles! The tread is still good but they vibrate and are very loud. They appear to be out of round. The car has been serviced by MB Manhattan from the day I bought it, so even though they serviced it to specs, they say I need a new set of tires----- at 19,000 miles! Am going to install Michelins at my own expense. Continentals are junk.

Same here. I have a E430 Lorinser and have had to repair rims multiple times and have been going through tires like crazy due to pinched sidewalls that end up in bubbles.

March 26, 2009 - we leased a 2008 E350 in December 2007 (fortunately it is just a 2 year lease) and in the space of 16 months (and less than 12,000 miles) we have had to replace or repair 3 rims and replace 4 tires. We live in northeast - where there are potholes and uneven surfaces - and after we learned about the problems with the tires, we now have to drive the car as if we were transporting eggs. This is not the MB experience we expected, and the extra expense (close to $2000 now) has been infuriating. We will not get another MB - it will be back to trusty and reliable Lexus and BMW.

I agree,
It has been extremely frustrating and they should repair it with a permanent solution. |

I have a 2008 e350 and the tire pressure light kept coming on before the car reached 5000 miles. I took it to the dealer for the free first service they offered and they serviced it , aired up the tires and gave me the car back. The guy told me he didn't check the tires, he just aired it up for me. Turns out, there was a screw in my tire and being a mother who knows nothing about tires I didn't notice it until two months later. I now have to pay to replace the tire because it's damaged beyond repair. Had the service guy done a more thorough job and checked my tires he would have noticed the screw and I wouldn't have this expense....

I just traded me E320 in on a 2007 E350 Sport and had no idea this was an issue. In fact, I was told yesterday that the Continental Tires currently on it are probably original and I would need to replace pretty quickly. Where do I start?

It seems that this problems exists on other models as well. I have a C280 - first 4000klm had to replace a front tire, 12000 klm another tire and 14000 klm yet another tire - all front tires it is costing a lot - does anyone know if you can put different tires on and still be covered under warranty?
