Long story short.. I reserved a rental car online and received a confirmation email with price to include taxes and fees for about $603

After dropping the car off I was overcharged $126.

After complaining to Avis I was told they could not replicate the price I received online but offered a refund. After waiting a month I emailed back to find out where my refund was. I was then told that they only charged me the approximate $600 when I got the car. My credit card statement clearly showed that I was charged over $700 and there were no extra fees for anything. They simply had increased the weekly rate and associated taxes.

They insisted through many emails and phone calls that I was only charged the $600. I contested the card charges with the bank and was refunded the $126.

Screw Avis. What a bunch of A-holes. They had multiple opportunities to turn a negative into a positive and they failed miserably.

Angry Avis Budget Car Rental, LLC. Rip Off's (overcharge scam)

With the holiday’s approaching I want to share my experience. Although my car rental was related to an auto accident Avis Budget Car Rental, LLC. requested my bankcard for a minimal deposit until the insurance could be verified.

Having failed to either contact us to verify information provided on the claim, or bill the insurance company properly four months later a charge of over $400. was applied toward the bankcard using the same authorization number from the date in which the deposit was made. After contacting Avis Budget Car Rental, LLC., customer service department about the matter, I was made aware that not only did Budget fail to handle billing correctly, but they overcharged by a whopping 5 days.

The representative kindly adjusted the bill, which zeroed the balance out, right? Not so, I was reimbursed by the insurance company as expected, but another four months later this past October, Avis Budget’s 5 day overcharge was re-applied to the bankcard using the very same authorization number.

Although Avis Budget has a contract with my auto insurance carrier in eight months not one of their representatives attempted to contact us to verify the information on insurance claim. Adding insult to injury although the overcharge had been previously adjusted, and the date of the rental’s return is verifiable Avis Budget Car Rental, LLC. representatives have refused to re-adjust the bill, or forward the matter to their corporate office for resolve.

You can sue in small claims or file a claim with your State Attorney General if need be.

Avis added over $1000 on to my actual rental amount without sending an invoice or a call due to a fuel mix up in Europe.

I was only made aware when I received my statement. I responded by sending a couple of emails asking for a detailed invoice.

They did not send my invoice but somebody elses with there name and last 4 credit card digits ... not good

After another email to inform them of their blunder my invoice still did not show instead I was given a phone number to customer service which I called again asking for an invoice to support the charges they were extremely rude and informed me that they had 30 days to send an invoice (they were not able to tell me when or what caused the 30 days to start and where the 30 days came from.

It is now past 30 days from the date I returned the car and still no details to back up the charges.

Does anyone know what would happen if i called my credit company to cancel the charges... any other ideas?

Th card company will cancel it at least until the situation is reviewed, and force Avis to respond.
