Thumbs Down Samsung Gravity cell phone poor battery life

All the newer Samsung phones have the battery issue. They replaced the batteries with a generic battery and they will not hold a charge. You have to use another battery other than the samsung one that came in it.

I got samsung gravity t459 cell phone from t-mobile last week and sent it back today. It's a good phone, with an easy messaging keyboard which to me is the best part. But i was highly disappointed to find that the battery sucked! It wouldnt charge completely and at times, the battery lasted no longer than 20 minutes.....after a full charging. It you use your phone as much as I do, this will annoy the crap out of you! You literally have to walk with your charger and charge it constantly! .....despite these 2 flaws, I would recommend this phone to texters like me. Just dont ever loose your charger! and carry a back up battery.....you'll need it!!!

Vital Statistics
The Samsung Gravity weighs 4.3 ounces and measures 4.5 x 2.1 x 0.7 inches. Its 1000 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 6 hours of talk time, and up to 288 hours (12 days) of standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE frequencies.

The battery does not last as long as they advertise and the battery-charge indicator (5 bars) is screwy. After the supposed full charge the highest bar disappears real soon and the next 3 disappear within a couple of days, then it sits on the last bar as long as the other 4 bars put together.

I have never returned a phone in my life, but was forced to with this phone. Having to fully charge my phone more than three times a day and over night was just ridiculous. Cute phone though.

Every gravity user is having the same battery problem. And samsung has realized this problem and stated they will make a software or firmware upgrade for the battery to give it longer life. Also you can always drain your battery then let it charge fully without you messing with it for about 5 times that could fix your battery problem. Or you can wait for the upgrade from samsung. Also you can download some samsung gravity updates and tips thing from the samsung mobile sight.

Big Grin Re: Samsung Gravity cell phone poor battery life

I may actually have the problem solved... I let the battery die completely until the phone turned off, I did the same thing again and charged it for 4 hours so far the battery life is registering correctly still full bars of battery life and it has been unplugged for 4 + hours

Confused Re: Samsung Gravity cell phone poor battery life

when i FIRST received the phone. i charged it for twelve hours. I've always heard you allow the battery to charge turned off for at least twelve hours. so i did so.

I turned it on to use it the next day and within TWO HOURS my battery dropped and stayed on the last bar, for longer than the other battery bars had lasted. And so far all the explained problems are the same with mine. i think its crap that we paid money for this phone and received such a horrible battery. I hope the upgrade is free, its not our fault the battery isn't working.

It advertised that the battery lasted up to 6 hours of usage. Complete lie. i don't think mine last up to 4 hours. during the day i either have to end up recharging it or turn it off in order for it to last me all day.

i love the keyboard and e mail access. But its not worth the pain. My razor, lasted forever i could come home from a whole day out and still the battery had full bars.
i hope something is done. i'm going to call customer service tonight.
i've met a few people at the club with the same problem and a few others i didn't think i was all the users of the phone.
something needs to be done.

They really should refund anybody that wants it. It is a major defect in my opinion.
