Anybody else having the same problem with the 8000 series? My hinge snapped in half at the thickest point (not sure how it pulled that off), and damaged the screw holding it in place. I had to send it in last year because of... I think the motherboard shorted out (it was very strange and sudden), so having another problem with it, only this time without a warranty, is frustrating.

Mine broke completely; it's an HP Pavilion. I can't close it. It is, however, running for the moment. I'm about to back it up entirely so I can transfer everything to an old Thinkpad.
The heat buildup in the HP is phenomenal; I went to a wireless mouse so I didn't have to touch the searing keypad. My notebook also sits on a desk and though I have propped it up to allow more air to vent, it's still powerfully hot and the fan runs almost constantly. I need to take it on a business trip and don't know what to do. I loved it until this happened, but I'm loving it less with every word I read here about HP ignoring its loyal users. Bad PR waters ahead for you, HP. Isn't your reputation worth something? My $10 is going to support the class-action suit. |

HP laptop: Model HP Pavilion Entertainment PC, HP Pavilion 9000 Series, HP 9010 TX2
1. Purchased Nov 17, 2006. 2. Left hinge came apart and left side of monitor casing split. The laptop is functional as a computer, though useless for mobile computing. 3. Repaired case as STAPLES Business Depot for $197.00 + tax. 4. Left hinge and case came apart again in Sep 2008. |

I am now entering into the "pissing contest" with HP regarding my HP Pravilion dv9000. Guess what happen back in July 2008.....you gussed it! the leftside hinge has broke, split that side apart and my screen began to fall out. My extended warranty company (Assurance)would not cover it because it was a manufacter defect and refunded my prorated amount I paid back. ($92.00 out of $350.00) Now I have called HP tech support and you all can guess what I got from them, yup, not under warranty and there is no recall. I then called CA and was told to call back at 10:00 (their time) and speack with a Senior Case Manager. However, I have spoke with an attorney and he told me that a lawsuit would cost more than the computer, but did inform me of my rights under the UCC regarding products. I also sent my complaint to the BBB and CA, which I highly recommend people to do, because they do work for us the consumer and I can testify to that personally. If enough of us complain to the BBB and the CA, HP will get the hint from them to fix the problem quickly. I refuse to have $1699.99 desktop that is suppose to be my laptop. Has anyone got satifaction from HP for this problem and if so, what and how long? I just want a working computer that I can use outside the home and be able to open and close it.
PS:BBB stands for Better Busi. Buearu and CA stands for Consumer Affairs. They do work!! |
