I had the TVT put in 5 years ago. It has been the biggest mistake and nightmare I have ever had to go through, and would NEVER recommend it! It was the greatest breech of trust in a product and a source of constant pain ever since. Having 2 surgeries to remove it and left without any bladder support now, I still have pain and incontinence. I would love to present my case and facts in a class action suit. Where do we start? mhuebner@athenet.net

Cool Re: Sling (TVT) surgery gone bad?

I have had a caldera tvt sling mesh placed almost 4 years ago and have suffered ever since. Now, it is continuous and only getting worse. Diuretics, caffiene and diet pills are the only things keeping me going...i am guessing that these things keep the swelling down out of my pelvic area so that I can bend over with not as much pain and it must also keep the mesh from rubbing up against my bladder as much do to swelling and irritation of the mesh.
My muscles want to move and the mesh does not move with it causing irritation to the point that I have had to basically remain immobile not to have any swelling and irritation. Been through so many doctors that all try to pin something else causing the problem on you. Even went to Cleveland,Ohio clinic only to be told by one of its leading urologists that " you are seeing good people" up here in Grand Rapids and did nothing to address my problem. I told him that I know he did not cause this problem that I have, but that I wanted to say to him that if I had known what problems this mesh would have caused I would have never had this surgery done in the first place...his reply , ' oh, we never tell the patient all that, you should be able to have this placed and never have to think about it.'......wouldn't that be nice.

I also have had the dreaded mesh of doom inplanted one year and 13 days ago,but whos counting ,not in my wildest dreams that such a simple procedure would cause so much pain ,it has caused family issues because i am not able to do things with my family, husband you can basically get what i am saying.due to go back in the operating room again next week ,sixth time depresses ,angered and feeling so alone..my advice to any poor woman who sees her dr and they suggest any device like tvt to run like hell because far as i am concerned it will most certainly cause troubles if not now but down the road ...please all of you ladies take care....

Unhappy Re: Sling (TVT) surgery gone bad?

I would love to join this class action suit. I can not begin to tell you all that I have been through! Just say 3 surgery's later I'm doing ok. I still have some problems that can never be solved due to all the damage to my bladder from the mesh. Please contact me debbiesfarmer@bellsouth.net anytime.

We are currently litigating against Ethicon and Johnson & Johnson here in their home state of New Jersey, and are investigating additional cases. Almost 5 years after my sling - and 3 1/2 years of non-stop infections - TWO doctors (both of whom I have previously seen) have told me that the infections may be due to the TVT sling being too tight. Both have said that surgery to "remove" the sling is a last ditch, horrible alternative. (Seven doctors, including the one who inserted the sling, told me it could not possibly be the cause.)

Due to horrendous allergies, the only mediation I can take is macrodantin - which has potentially fatal side effects over long term use.

Lawsuit? I am ready!
