They are now apparently being sued for fraud and other various causes of action. Would like to join any suit if possible

They sell credit card merchant systems but then overcharge and harass the buyer to such a level that massive suits are being filed I have been told.

Thumbs Up Re: Northern Leasing Systems fraud case

Well, gee, is there is room for 1 more? Merchant Services and MBF TOTALLY misrepresented the savings I was supposed to realize and the contract seemed purposely written in such a way as to obscure what they are up to (imagine that). MBF takes $188 a month out of my account for the terminal (which I still have) even though I closed my business almost a year and a half ago. Sending the terminal back wouldn't change things, they told me over the phone, I was stuck for the whole amount for the 4 year lease.
Yea these guys are theves, but I was going to pay the money every month anyway till the lease expired to "punish myself" for having been duped-why make life harder for myself since I figured they probably have the law on there side- or do they???. It seems they may have broken some laws. I've never been involved in a lawsuit before but I will carry my weight if an action is started (I assume Merchant Services/MBF is the same ring as the Northern Leasing Systems /MBF fraud - if not, please let me know).

I have tried, myself to Contact both the FL AG and the NY AG, online and Hand Written Official complaint Forms. Both of the Offices have Sent back letters saying they do not handle Individual cases such as mine and the NY AG suggested that i file a complaint with the BBB of NY, which i have done. But that was 11 days ago. I haven't heard back yet. I spoke to a lawyer and she said that "I willingly signed the contract and that Binds me to the 48 month lease and shame on me for not reading the whole thing." I'm at a loss and about to buckle under the weight of this multi million dollar bigwig making threats of lawsuits against small businesses. I have my family to think about and money doesn't just roll in fast enough to shell out $2400.00 for a machine that you can buy for $150 bucks online. If that's not Corporate corruption I don't, know what is. So I would be More than Interested in signing petitions or Lobbying some type of Justice for us small business owners. I know contracts are legally binding, but I think in some cases they should be reviewed by bigger and more authoritative people to see if this is a fair and ethically business practice. I have selected, when signing up, that people can contact me through this forum. Aside from the employees who are trying to make it in this world by working for NLS, I look forward to watching a greedy giant fall by the hands of the small and honest.

11 Days is nothing, the wheels of justice turn slowly. Do not sit idle. Continue to seek out help.
Making a report with the better business is a must. Though I would not expect a favorable result. The actions of this company need to be documented. The BBB will only attempt to mediate the problem. They do not have authority to take remedial action. Contact all that will listen and even those that will not. Follow up with a phone call, be persistent. People / agencies may react differently after talking with an actual person. I do not know your particular situation and all will be a little different. You may need to get advice from another attorney. If you feel the actions of this company are illegal, contact the AG in any state related to this contract ( ex. Northern Leasing is out of NY but the machine may belong to another company in another state.) Laws regarding this matter may very from state to state. Do not be satisfied with a response of “not our jurisdiction”. Allow each state to record the fraudulent behavior victimizing small business. Also report illegal actions to the FTC. Gather as much information as you can. Fill for a freedom of information act. Contact the press. They may wish to shine a light on this matter as well as the inactions of our government and their failure protect the small businessman. The more complaints an agency receives about a company the more likely they are to take action. Keep good records and document everything. Good Luck
