Email Conversation
I was having a private email conversation with a friend that was meant for
us two only. Another person who has access to the friends email account copied and pasted my last response to my friend into a new email and sent it to several people at my place of employment. The email that was sent to my employment has caused me some damage in the eyes of others, damage to my reputation as a supervisor and could cost me my employment. Is there anything that can be done? |

Based on what you have said, the information that has been communicated is not false. As the information is not false, it is highly unlikely that you will be able to bring any type of action against this individual. The laws on defamation are very strict and the information you have provided would not be sufficient evidence to bring a claim.
If this individual is a work colleague, it would be advisable to make an official complaint however. |

If the e-mail is true, defamation won't work, but what about theft or privacy laws? Probably the only person who can sue this person is your friend, as the e-mails were copied from your friend's computer. I'm not a lawyer, but I'd do some research and see if theft or privacy breach is an option.
