Default ASKING FOR LEGAL STEPS FOR MY TEEN

Good Evening,

I have a daughter who turned 18 on Dec.24.07 who is not interested to follow
the rules of the house like coming home not later than 12.:00 a.m, cleaning
her room out of dirty clothes, dirty dishes, and dirty bathroom. She has
failed one year officially of her 2nd year of high school; therefore, she is
supposed to graduate this year, however, she was not doing good at school
and in order to help her somehow to pass her year, I registered her name in
adult school. The classes will start on Jan.09.08. She doesn\'t have a job
and has a very fawl language at home or outside the home, she doesn't obey
or respect any kind of authority figure, been in selling drugs at school or
outside of it, been caught by the principle of the school for this issue.
She had a boy friend who is a looser (excuse my language). He doesn't have
a job, 24 years old, not educated, in drugs and once trespassed our
property and broke our window. Inspite of the warrant order from the court
of Montreal to him of not getting close to my daughter, seems they have back
together. She has been living somewhere since she turned 18 years of age. We
don't know where is she living. She hasn't moved anything of her
belongings from the house, just once in a while she comes home and unpack
her bag and packs another bag and takes it out with herself. She thinks that
she is hurting us or fighting with me. Anyways, I have talked in the past
thousands time verbally and officially in written forms about the wrong
lifestyle and wrong direction that she has chosen for herself, but seems
that my advices been only time and energy consumption rather than creating a
positive click in her mind .I would like to know if we can change the locks
of the doors of the house or not to protect our safety in the house
and overall what are the rights of the parents in such a case. Because we have
heard that parent's hands are closed and she can stay in this house with
this lifestyle as long as she wants and we cannot do anything about it. Can
you help me and tell me ! what legal steps could be taken at this stage? I will really appreciate.

Thanking you in advance. I remain.

Regards/Nancy

You can do that--but if she is still in school and wants to come back the police may let her do so.

You may want to also consult local social services and the police dept in advance about this situation.
