Co Owner Stole My Dog!
I have a dog that is co-owned. She has been with me 5 years. Other O has not been involved with this dog up to the time It was decided mutually to breed the dog. I have covered all bills, dog is house dog, family companion & I do show her...also paying all those expenses. We had a nice litter & Co owner took part of the litter to socialize & to evualate. She then said she needed the mom dog for puppy buyers to meet. We have both sold puppies in past years that the buyers never meet the parents so I was reluctant to let my dog go stay with her. But she pushed & pushed so I agreed to let her have the mom dog for a few days. After she got the mom dog she informed me she was keeping the dog!!! I only have 4 adult dogs, all are house dogs, my "family". She on the other hand has approx 8 adults & she lives in a surburban area where there is a 2 pet limit. Her dog stay in cages & only get out 2 at a time to keep them hiden from the neighbors. What are my chances of winning in small claims?? I am worriered that the judge will order monatery settlement (her paying me 1/2 the dogs worth & her keeping the dog or vice versa) I want my dog home but dont think I should have to pay the co owner since the dog has been with me for 5 years!!! Any input appreciated

Re: Co Owner Stole My Dog!
I wish to inform you that court considers ownership of dog while determining dog custody. If you both own the dog or there is co-ownership of dog then court will divide the dogs in an equitable manner whereby both owners have dogs of equal value or one have dogs and other can pay for value of dog.
