Cool Vehicle recovery -- The local police won't take a stolen vehicle report

My son's girlfriend apparently disposed of their 2008 Hummer and then turned up with a 2003 Hummer. My son co-signed for the 2008, and the bank holds the title. They ran a trace on it, but couldn't find it. The local police won't take a stolen vehicle report because they say it's a domestic issue.
What to do?

Default Re: Vehicle recovery

I wish to inform you that as your son cannot claim that his car is stolen if his girlfriend because he is co-owner and his girlfriend being other co owner can take car. In this regard he may demand a court order that car must be sold as there is no way to enjoy car by both the owners. He can register theft if car if car is solely on his name and other person has taken car without permission. Theft is a criminal offence and police is duty bound to search theft by any person.
