I recently defaulted on a payday loan and a law firm called me at work this past Friday and said they are proceeding with charges on 3 different accounts unless I paid $635 by 12:00 noon that day. I asked for 1 week and they said no. Can they do this? This was the first time I was contacted about this. The default was an accident because my checking account was in the negative. Please advise.

They normally have to sue you in court--and it takes a good deal of time to do so.
