Default Pet Injury

My 16 year old daugher's friend (18 year old female) had a crying, hysterical argument with her father on her cell phone while in my daughter's bedroom and accidentally stomped on my daughter's five week old kitten. My daughter just received the kitten (which is a domestic tabby breed) as a birthday gift five days ago. The kitten had blood coming out of it's mouth and was unconscious. We rushed him to the vet. His brain was swollen, he had bitten his tongue and had a bruised lung. The kitten is going to live and be okay, however the total vet bill is $1400.00. I charged the total amount to my credit card. When I asked the girl responsible to please pay me $1400 for the
kitten's vet bills she said she would never have agreed to pay a $1400 vet bill for a cat and therefore won't pay me back anything. I think the entire bill should be her responsibility. Please advise. (I'm located in Roswell, GA 30076 Fulton County which is where the injury occurred).
Thank you!

Default Re: Pet Injury

Normally the girl would be responsible if she caused the injury. The amount of 1400 may be a little high (you have to decide) but at least she could be held liable for the cost of a new kitten of the same breed.
