Confused Request to make my deposition on video

State: Illinois

I am an artist. I have been asked to give a deposition regarding a case before the court.

The case is a civil matter.

I do not believe I must comply with the request to make my deposition on video.

I have procured many \"photos\" \"video recordings and such\" over my many years in communications and believe my \"rights\" could be violated in some fashion. Any insight to Law?

Respectfully,

EB

They legally can require it on video. You can try to object to the court but you will normally not prevail.

What exactly is the basis for opposing a deposition on video vs. the more prevalent deposition via audio? What rights are you seeking to preserve by refusing the video taping of your deposition?

You can argue it is too cumbersome where you are located, there is some reason it technically cannot occur--but the party asking for it pays all costs and sets it all up so frankly there are very few grounds to oppose.

You can also argue the info is highly confidential and may be misused or is prejudicial if you eg you have a deformity or temporary injury etc.
