Confused Disputed bill

I am in dispute with a contractor over the work done in my home. I have expressed my concerns, and he has finally agreed to reduce my $1400 bill to $900, as mistakes were made by his company. My objection is due to the fact tht I have been trying to resolve this bill for over two years. It took 21 months before I received a response to my concerns over the quality of the workmanship. During this time, the only correspondence with the contractor came in the form of a bill at year end. Upon receiving these bills, I again communcated my concerns. I agree that money is owed, but feel that compensation is due, because of the length of time it took for him to put forward his offer. I feel that a further $200 reduction is due for the stress and aggravation during the past two years in trying to resolve this matter. His view is that the offer of resoving the bill with a payment of $900 is not negotiable. Any advice? Manitoba, Canada

Default Re: Disputed bill

Sorry for your situation. Given the dispute and the length of time that has dragged on, you really do need to see a lawyer. WLD does have affiliated counsel in Canada, so my best suggestion would be to obtain a referral. You could do that through their main page. I do not see you likely receiving any reduction for stress and hassle. However, the only way to properly address this is for an attorney to interview you and review the contract. AJJ
