Need advice
I was a victim of aggravated assault. A couple of guys jumped me with baseball bats. I was able to get away as they chased me and continued doing it for a little while. I was able to get their license plate and ID the guys. My car had about 10 grand damage to it but I was unharmed physically. However, I went through a lot of emotional distress. What can I do in this situation in a civil case? Thanks.

They can be sued for any and all damages costs etc. But you should also have them criminally prosecuted and you can have restitution ordered there as well--and it will not cost you anything.

Some lawyers may take that on contingency--so you pay nothing until they collect...you often have to consult several attorneys to find one that will take the case

i found a well known lawyer who was asking 20,000 up front along with 30% contigency. does that seem reasonable?
