I have a judgement against me in L.A. California and I was never personally served. Instead, a notice was posted at my old address which I knew nothing about. There was a default judgement given against me (since I did not know about the case) for $3,200. In Iowa, I know you cannot get a money judgement without personal service. Is this possible/legal in California? Thanks for your help.

You have it issued and signed by the judge so they did it.
But yes notice sometimes can be given in ways that are fairly easy there. But you can file to set it aside...or wait until they come to your state court to try to authenticate it there. |
