I took a trip on Carolina Trailways from Summerville SC to visit my daughter in Norfolk Virginia. I took my adult son that have severe autism with me. On the return trip to SC the bus driver was two hours behind scheduled and arrived at the station in Charleston SC at 11:30 P.M. My son and I was suposed to take a connecting bus from Charleston to Summerville SC which is a 45 minute or more drive. Because the driver was late arriving in Charleston we missed our connecting bus to Summerville. At the Charleston terminal the driver informed me that my son and I had to get off the bus in charleston. I ask if another bus was comming to take us to Summerville. He ask the baggage handler if another bus was comming heading to Summerville. The baggage handler said that there was no more buses going to Summerville because it was after 11:30 P.M and said that me and my son would have to take a cab to Summerville. I told the bus driver that we had two tickets to Summerville and that I had no money left to pay for cab fare. The driver told me that he did not know what to tell me. He couldn't help me and we had to get off the bus because his bus was going on to Savannah Ga. My son and I were the only two passengers from the bus going on to Summerville. We exited the bus and I saw that the bus station was still opened so we began walking towards the doors where I met two men coming out of the doors. As I reached for the door one of the men said ma'am you can't go in because we're closed. I told him that my son and I had two tickets to get to Summerville. The bus driver put us off here in Charleston to fend for ourselves. I told him that I needed to go inside and use a phone to call for someone to come for us. The man pointed to a phone booth outside. Turned off the lights locked the doors and left me and my son standing there at almost midnight. There was another man there with us. I thought he got off the bus but when we were alone I learned that he was a homeless man begging me for money. After I told him that I did not have any money he would not go away. He continued to walk around and stare at us. I went to the phone booth that was pointed out to me only to find a coin stuck in the slot and it did not work. We had a 17 hour bus ride. was put off the bus 45 minutes to and hour away from our destination. We were cold tired and hungy and now I was afraid for my and my son"s safty. I saw that there was a store across the street from the bus station that open. Me and my son left our luggage behind with a homeless man and ran across a busy street at midnight in search of a phone. I stopped a customer comming from the store and ask if he had a cell phone that I could use. He did and I called for my brother to come for us. It took my brother another 45 minutes to and hour to get to us. I paid for our tickets to get to our destination safly. My son and I did nothing wrong. Because the driver was two hours late which caused us to miss our connecting bus. We were thrown out on the side of the road in the cold at midnight and left as if we were stray dogs. Carolina Trailways can not get away with treating thier passengers in this manner. Putting a woman and a serverely Autistic man out on the road to fend for them selves. This can not happen again. I still have nightmares about that night. My question is do I have a law suit against Carolina Trailways for how we was treated?

Based on what you say here, you could file suit against them (or at least threaten to do so) in small claims court or in regular court; filing in small claims court is easier and requires no attorney...you could try to collect all of the costs and damages that you suffered due to their behavior... You may also report them to the state attorney general's office.
