Confused Slander

Can I sue someone for slander if they have publically said false and derogatory things about me and diminished my stature/reputation in my community?

You certainly can. That is exactly when you can sue.

if you sue someone for slander can you ask for them to pay court and attorney fees and lost wages plus what ever the monetary amount your suing for???

You can try to get that but it is within the discretion of the court.
