I am a Canadian living in Hong Kong as a permanent resident. My ex was also living here when our marriage disolved. At the time, we agreed Hong Kong had jurisdiction and filed a joint application for divorce and child support under Hong Kong law. Shortly thereafter, the ex returned to Canada and filed under Alberta law for a new support order. Under legal advice, I did not attend court as I did not want to attourn (or give jurisdiction to) the Alberta Court. She falsely presented income information and subsequently received another order for considerably more than I am paying now. I have not recognized the Alberta Order and there is no reciprocal agreement between the two. Unfortunately, Alberta has now started enforcement action against me. I continue to abide by the terms of the Hong Kong order. Can they do this??

You may show the court the existing order and the court may very well cancel the order. And fine your ex for misusing the court's time.
