Single mom of 5 year old son

I have a 5 year old son. I have been a single mom since August of 2004. I relocated in another town. I don't talk to his father, and his father calls when it's his birthday. I do receive child support from him. He moved out of state a couple of years ago and is having another child this April. He had a bad drug problem and has a min paying job. He is 27 and lives with his mom, girlfriend and her 2 other children. I want to get sole custody and wonder if it's possible to get it and if I don't would they really grant us joint custody? I have the papers and want to file, but i need advice, I have a hundred questions.

If you can prove to the court that the drug problem exists he may get limited, or even more likely, no visits.

You could ask for a drug test as well.
