getting sole custody (step childrens mom has stopped all contact)

My step childrens mom has stopped all contact with them for over 8 months. There has been no visit, phone or mail contact. This is the 2nd time in 7 years she has done this(kids are 10 and 9). She was involved with a very unstable man that 1 year ago she was arrested for domestic violence which the children witnessed. The ex bf had custody of thier 2 children. We tried to keep contact with him so sc could see siblings. Now seems that mother and bf are back together and he is calling threatening to take husband to court. Mother didnt call on bdays, holidays ect. 9 year old is in thearapy for this. Husband filled for sole custody and supervised visit due to getting mother to have steady visits. What are his chances at this? We never tried to keep mom not involved. I always kept her abreast to things going on but couldnt ever make her get involved. As of now mother still hasnt made any attempts just the bf who has no rights.

tell bf if he doesnt stop calling, youll file harrassment charges on him. they are not his kids, and he cant take your husband to court for anything. he has no legal standing at all.
