stop support for 18 yr old son w/child?????

state: Sedgwick County, Kansas
I pay support for one son. He had a son in June, 2007. He turned 18 Oct. 13, 2007. He got married Oct. 20, 2007. He graduates from high school May, 2008 (when the current support ends per divorce decree). He and his wife are employed. He pays his mother rent for him and his wife, son and stepson to live with her. My son and his family receive some govt. and charitable assistance. Should I have to still pay child support for my son???

I'm pretty sure that once a child get's married you are no longer responsible for child support. Contact your court where te support is filed. You may need to file a modification. But I would def. look into it before you make anymore payments.

In all states, a child is legally emancipated from CS once they are married. You need to file with the court to terminate CS, all you will need is a copy of the marriage license to take to court. Those are public record so it should be easy to get.
