Default Permission for international travel

My husband's daughter's mom has sole custody, however he has his parental rights. If she wants to travel over seas, does she need his permission?

I wish to inform you that daughter will require a consent letter from father or an order from court. If however father does not agree then mother may go to court and have an order from court.

I would like to inform you that a parent who has sole custody of a child should be prepared to present all relevant court orders granting sole custody and any other evidence that proves she has sole custodial rights and that no travel restrictions are in place.

If even one day of the father's visitation will be lost because of the overseas travel, then she does need his permission, of course. If the decree was not conditioned with the child remaining in the country, he can petition to have the order modified to include such language requiring the court's approval and his for any such trips.

If he has any concerns that the grandmother might not return with the child, he can request the court condition such travel with not just court notification but a bond so that should she not return the child the money will be there to hire the detectives to locate the child and bring the child home.
