a filipino mother battles for child support from a us citizen father

hi.. i am from the philippines.. and please somebody help me... u see, i have a son who just turned 15years old recently.his father is a filipino too but lieves in california and now married to an american. actually, my son wasnt born accidentally or something.. his father was my ex fiancee.. we met downhere in the philippines and was in a relaionship for almost 3 years.. he was coming back and forth in a california those years when we were going out and when i got pregnant we were both overwhelmed and he was here with me when i gave birth and although during that time there was a local law that a child couldnt used the fathers last name unless both parents are married.. he signed the acknowledgment certification proving that he is the father of my son and even put in his california drivers license no. for the file.. at the back of my son birth certificate..he was here in the baptismal and signed it too. i still have all the letters and the pics way back from before for evidence.. he left my son almost a month old and enter the us army from then i just got 100$ a month for only two months and no more. all these years i did everything to support my child but he will be in college next year. actually,just recently too i come know my child fathers california address and even his telephone no. and i tried talking to him about supporting our son but he just dont want to. so, i think its time now for me to fight in legal terms now.. i know my son has the right to ask for child support from him.. am i right? please.. tell me what to do,where to go and how to start,who to talk to... please help me..

In this regard as Philippines is not a member of Hague Convention thus order of Philippines court may not be enforced in USA. Further you can contact legal aid or a lawyer who may not charge you. You can also contact child protective services for assistance.

thank you for your reply.. but please tell me.. if i go to the us embassy here in the philippines which office does the child protective services handles? is there a lawyer with no charge for this such case that will help me in the us embassy?

I'm in the same situation as the OP. Would you be able to give us more guidance on how to go about filing a lawsuit for child support, in the USA? Thanks.
