Default getting custody of 14 year old son

I have a 14 year old son that will be 15 in october and wants to come live with me. His mother says no. Does the court allow him to choose where he lives and should I hire an attorney?? He is requesting this and I think he would do better in school. He told me he would like to know what it is like to live with his dad.

he can express his wishes to the judge but its the judges decision, not your son's.

In addition to the previous advice, it would be a good idea to hire an attorney to file for a custody modification. You'll have to prove to the court that a change in custody will be in your son's best interests.
